The government of Central African Republic and 10 armed groups signed a peace deal Sunday aimed at ending two years of fighting that has killed thousands.
U.N. Special Representative Babacar Gaye said, “I want to believe that the commitment is sincere and that we will engage in the construction of progressive peace.”

Syrian government helicopters dropped leaflets over a northwestern town held by Muslim militants Sunday, calling on fighters to surrender and residents to stay away from militant positions as battles intensified nearby, Syrian state TV said.
The warning came as state media and activists said government forces are on the offensive in the outskirts of the town of Jisr al-Shughour, adding that troops have closed all roads leading to the town — which was captured by Muslim militants late last month.

Yemen’s Houthi forces accepted a five-day humanitarian ceasefire proposed by Saudi Arabia, the spokesman for the Yemeni army said.
The truce that will allow humanitarian aid in the war-torn country is expected to begin at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Fighting has escalated in war-torn South Sudan forcing up to 100,000 people to flee their homes, the United Nations has said.
Toby Lanzer, the UN’s humanitarian coordinator for South Sudan said up to 100,000 people had been displaced from their homes in Unity State, as clashes intensifed between rebels and government troops.

MIA correspondent in Kumanovo informs that a spate of detonations and intensified machine gun fire is heard from a south-western part of the city where Macedonian police and an armed group were locked in fighting since early Saturday morning.
The intensified fighting follows the arrival of police reinforcements. Local citizens in the ethnically mixed part of the city, that has Macedonians, Albanians and Serbs living side by side, are evacuating, some by foot and other by police vehicles.
