Suspected extremist fighters attacked a town in western Mali near the border with neighbouring Mauritania before dawn on Saturday, leaving up to 11 people dead, including three soldiers and eight attackers, an army nurse said.
A senior army officer said military intelligence and initial witness accounts indicated the attackers were Islamist fighters mainly from the Peuhl ethnic group.

Kurdish forces have driven out Islamic State (IS) fighters who had infiltrated the Kurdish border town of Kobani in Syrian Kurdistan, but clashes continued outside the town, activists and the official Syrian news agency said Saturday. The civilian death toll — already well over 100 — was expected to rise as the search for bodies continued.
“Kobani has been completely cleared of IS and Kurdish forces are now combing the town looking for fighters who may have gone into hiding,” activist Mustafa Bali, told AP by telephone from Kobani.

Al-Shabaab rebels claimed in a statement that it had carried out deadly attack on Friday at AU military base in Lego town lies 130 km North-West of Mogadishu, killing at least 50 soldiers from Burundi.
Heavy exchanges of gunfire erupted after al-Shabaab militants armed with rocket propelled grenades and machine guns launched an assault on AMISOM military camp in south of Somalia town, witnesses told Shabelle Media in Mogadishu.

Gunmen killed at least 28 people at a beachfront Tunisian hotel on Friday, the same day terrorists lashed out brutally in France and bombed a mosque in Kuwait.
Tunisia’s health ministry reported those deaths as well as 36 injuries in and around the Hotel Riu Imperial Marhaba in the coastal Tunisian city of Sousse. At least one gunman was also reportedly killed, according to the state-run TAP news agency.

Islamic State has launched a two-pronged offensive in northern Syria after several setbacks, re-entering the symbolic battleground town of Kobane and seizing parts of the city of Hasakeh.
In southern Syria, an alliance of rebel groups, including the Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front, also attacked government-held areas of the city of Daraa.
