Somalia: Heavy fighting between somali forces and al-Shabaab militants erupted in Baladweyne town
Somalia troops, along with African Union (AMISOM) forces from Ethiopia have clashed with al-Qaeda linked al-Shabaab militants in north of Baladweyne town, capital of Hiran region, officials and residents said.
The combat started after al-Shabaab agents attacked on based manned by government troops and AMISOM forces in the town of central Somalia’s Hiran region.
A local resident, who asked to be unnamed for security reasons, said that the clash between both sides caused casualties, including civilians.
Somalia military officials highlighted that its troops backed Ethiopian forces had inflicted heavy losses upon al-Shabaab militants who launched lethal assault in army bases in the town of Baladweyne.
