Syrian troops and pro-government gunmen repelled on Tuesday an offensive by rebels and Muslim militants on a neighborhood in the northern city of Aleppo while opposition activists claimed that the army carried out a chlorine gas attack in another part of the city, activists and state media said.
The offensive, led by members of al-Qaida’s affiliate in Syria, the Nusra Front, began late Monday with a suicide attack followed by a ground offensive that led to the capture of several buildings in the western Zahra neighborhood, activists said.

At least 14 people were killed and 11 others injured after Al-Shabaab gunmen attacked a village near Mandera town.
The incident happened in Soko Mbuzi village where non-locals and mostly quarry workers live.

At least 49 militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed in separate drone strikes in eastern Nangahar province.

Saudi media sources reported clashes between the Saudi army and Houthi militants on the bordering mountain of Tuwaileq.
Saudi military sources also said that Houthi forces shelled several locations in Jazan and Najran this morning, while the Saudi army fired back with heavy artillery.
