Yemen: Exiled Government says it has retaken Aden from Houthi rebels

Yemeni forces, backed by Saudi airstrikes, have retaken the southern city of Aden from Houthi rebels after months of fighting, according to a top official in exile.

“The government announces the liberation of the province of Aden on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, which falls on July 17,” Vice President Khaled Bahah said on his Facebook page. “We’ll work to restore life in Aden and all the liberated cities, to restore water and electricity.”

Mali: Army kills at least 30 terrorists in southern Mali

At least 30 jihadist were killed on Thursday in a raid carried out by the Malian army against a terrorist camp in a forest in the Sikasso region in southern Mali.

Military officials told EFE that the army targeted the Sama forest, and then another unit moved in to dismantle the camp, as part of an operation that was successful in confiscating weapons, ammunition, maps, notebooks and several motorcycles.

Israel: Israel Air Force strikes terrorist target in Gaza in response to a rocket attack

The Israel Air Force struck terrorist infrastructure in the Gaza Strip on Thursday morning, in response to a rocket that was fired on Israel a few hours earlier.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Office released a statement saying that the IDF viewed with severity the rocket attack on Israel and that it would not tolerate attempts to harm Israeli citizens.

Somalia: Airstrike kills 2 al-Shabaab senior commanders

Two al-Shabaab senior commanders were killed in a foreign airstrike in South-western Somalia early on Thursday, local officials said.

According to reports, the airstrike carried out by drones took place in the outskirts of Bardheere city, which is some 400 km west of Mogadishu and capital of Gedo region.

Yemen: Yemeni troops battle Houthi shiite rebels in Aden neighborhoods

Yemeni troops, backed by Saudi-led airstrikes, battled Shiite rebels Wednesday in neighborhoods they previously controlled in the southern port city of Aden, a day after they pushed them out of the local airport, military officials said.

The offensive, closely coordinated with the Saudi-led coalition, is a serious blow to the Shiite rebels and allied forces who have been trying to seize control of the strategic city since March.
