Kyiv says Russian-backed rebels have launched one of their fiercest attacks in the Ukraine’s east since the signing of a February deal on a cease-fire, killing eight Ukrainian soldiers and wounding 16 over the past 24 hours.
Ukraine’s Security Council said on July 15: “Over the past day there was one of the most intense bombardments of Ukrainian territory since the signing of the Minsk agreement.”

Bodies of four police personnel kidnapped by Maoists on Monday were recovered on from Chhattisgarh’s insurgent Bijapur district of Bastar region on Wednesday morning, few kilometers away from the spot of abduction.
Six police personnel were abducted on Monday by a group of armed Maoists from Kutru village in Bijapur from a passenger bus, of which two police informers were traced on Tuesday and hunt for other four were on.

Iraqi troops and Muslim militia forces attacked ISIL fighters on several fronts in the country’s largest province on Monday, saying the battle to drive the hardline militants out of Anbar was under way.
A spokesman for the joint operations command said the offensive, which began at dawn, brought together the army, mainly Hashid Shaabi militias, special forces, police and local Muslim tribal fighters.

Burundi’s army killed 31 suspected rebels and captured 170 others in fighting in the country’s north, a military spokesman said on Monday.
The fighting, which comes amid political unrest over the president’s controversial bid for a third term, has raised fears of a return to civil war in this central African country.

ISIS acknowledged losing control of the city of Derna in eastern Libya, promising to “avenge” its fighters, in a video posted on Twitter.
The 10-minute video posted late Saturday by the “media office of the province of Barqa” in Libya confirmed the loss of Derna after clashes.
