Sudan: Army says it recaptured town in Blue Nile state from Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/North (SPLM-N) rebels
A Sudanese military official on Saturday said the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) has recaptured a strategic town from the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/North (SPLM-N) in the Blue Nile state.
The commander of the fourth infantry division in the Blue Nile capital of Damazin, Osman Sid Ahmed, told Ashorooq TV website that his forces on Saturday have entered Taroda area on the edges of the Ingasana Mountains.
He pointed that SAF seized a number of weaponry and retrieved stolen cattle, saying the area constitutes an important economic and intelligence centre because it is close to mining sites in Ingasana Mountains.
SPLM-N officials were not immediately available for comment.
