A Tunisian border guard was killed in a firefight with a group of Islamists. The battle occurred on the Algerian border, and left an additional three guards wounded.
At least 14 Somali soldiers were killed and more than 20 others wounded Saturday in suicide attack by al-Shabaab rebels in southern Somalia, officials and witnesses said.
The attack occurred inside a former university building on the outskirts of Kismayo, where African Union peacekeepers from Kenya and Somali soldiers are stationed, officials said.
Members of the Islamic State group killed at least 50 Iraqi soldiers. The majority of them were ambushed in the Anbar province in two separate attacks. The deaths were confirmed by a top official minutes ago.
Sabah al-Karhout, a top official in the province, told the Associated Press the ambushes happened late yesterday near Ramadi. He did not give out any more details on the attack. The group has not claimed responsibility and authorities have not spoken about it.
Dozens of people, mostly civilians, have been killed in fighting and air strikes by a Saudi-led coalition in Yemen’s third city Taez.
THE International Committee of the Red Cross said the Friday violence between Iran-backed rebels and pro-government forces had killed 80 people by late evening, adding that it was unknown if people in the city were “dead or alive under the rubble”.
“My colleague was told that by noon yesterday, there were 50 killed. In the evening it went up to 80. These are figures we are receiving from various sides,” Yemen spokeswoman Rima Kamal told AFP on Saturday.
According to the KIA frontline sources, Burmese Army has been preparing to launch an attack on Lawt Mai Yang village, located about 2 miles northeast of Mali Yang village in Sumpra Bum Township. 381st, 385th, and 389th Light Infantry Regiments under Mogaung-based 3rd Military Operations Command (MOC-3) and Infantry Battalions under 3rd Tactical Command were involved in the preparation.
