Gulf-supported forces loyal to Yemen’s exiled government on Saturday retook a fifth province in the country’s south, military officials said, as they continued their advance against Iran-backed rebels.
The rebels “withdrew” and “handed over” Shabwa to the pro-government forces after they were promised a safe route out of the province, a military official told AFP.

Three days of combat in the city of Sirte left a death toll of 106, including Islamic State (ISIL) militants and tribe members, news channel Al Arabiya reported today.
Most of the casualties are member of the Feryan community who refused to pledge allegiance to the extremists.

At least 17 people were killed in heavy clashes between ISIS fighters and a rival Islamist group in the ISIS-held city of Sirte in central Libya Thursday, residents said.
Earlier this week, a Salafist Muslim group and armed residents attacked ISIS fighters in Sirte, located about 500 km east of the capital Tripoli, accusing them of killing a prominent preacher in Sirte.

Iraqi officials say Islamic State militants have ambushed a military convoy in the country’s western Anbar province, killing at least 14 soldiers.
The officials, a military officer and a police officer, say numerous roadside bombs targeted a military convoy Wednesday morning as it was travelling on a highway outside the Islamic State-held city of Ramadi. They say that the attack in Khabaz area, about 170 kilometers west of Ramadi, also wounded 10 soldiers.

Two members of terrorist organization “Shining Path”, among them Alexander Alarcon Soto (Comrade Renan) have been captured, Peru’s Defense Minister Jakke Valakivi announced on Sunday night.
‘Renan’, arrested in the La Convencion province (Peru’s Southern Cusco region), was considered one of the organization’s high-level commanders based in the Valley formed by the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM).
