At least 70 Saudi-backed militants have been killed in an attack by the Yemeni army, backed by popular committees, on their hideouts in the southern province of Abyan, local media reports say.
According to Yemen’s al-Masirah television network, fighters of the Houthi Ansarullah movement and allied Yemeni army units managed to kill several militants fighting for Yemen’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, in the city of Zinjibar, the capital of Abyan, on Saturday.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for Friday’s coordinated attack on a NATO base in Kabul which left nine people dead.
At least one NATO service member and eight foreign civil contractors died after Taliban suicide bombers and gunmen stormed the base late on Friday night.
According to the country’s interior ministry, one of the four attackers detonated his explosive-laden car at the gate of the base, paving the way for the remaining assailants to storm the compound.

A blast triggered by a suicide bomber has killed 15 people at a mosque inside a special forces headquarters in Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen.
An interior ministry spokesman said on Thursday that the “terrorist” attack took place during noon prayers in the city of Abha, in the southern province of Asir.

At least 14 Syrian rebels surrendered to Hezbollah in the border city of Zabadani Wednesday, as allied forces inch closer to claiming control of the last rebel stronghold along the Lebanese frontier, a security source said.
The surrender came as a major rebel group fighting in Zabadani announced the end of negotiations with Hezbollah and the Syrian army.

The Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) organization on Tuesday has claimed responsibility for an attack on an army base one day earlier in which 11 Malian soldiers were killed, according to a website that covers news from the North African country.
According to the French-language Maliactu.net, AQIM claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack, which occurred in Mali’s Gouma-Rharous commune, located some 160 kilometers east of Timbuktu.
