KDF troops under Amisom have killed eight al Shabaab militia in three foiled attacks between Thursday and Saturday.
Three members of the al-Qaeda linked terror group were killed in a thwarted attack in the Damasa area of Gedo region on Saturday morning.
The soldiers killed them in a firefight that 17 others fled, and recovered two AK 47 rifles, a mobile phone and a radio.
The gunfight ensued after an IED exploded while the troops were on their way from Elade to Damasa on a routine operation, said KDF spokesman David Obonyo.
