At least 17 militants of the Islamic State group (ISIS) were killed in an airstrike southwest of Kirkuk on Thursday evening, an Iraqi security official said.
Coalition airpower destroyed military bases in areas south of Kirkuk, from where ISIS frequently launches attacks against Peshmerga positions inside the city.

At least 22 insurgents affiliated with the Taliban and Islamic State (IS) groups have been killed and 21 others injured in the ongoing military operation in eastern Nangarhar province.
The operation named ‘Shaheen 09’ was launched in Laghurjo and Sayed Ahmad Khel areas of Kot district last week to flush out militants hiding in the area.

Burkina Faso’s elite presidential guards, who recently staged a coup in the country, have signed an agreement with the army, pledging to withdraw from their positions.
The deal came about following negotiations in the city of Abuja the capital city of Nigeria late on Tuesday.

Two leaders of Basque separatist group ETA have been arrested in France, Spanish state-run news agency Efe reported Tuesday, citing a spokesman for Spain‘s paramilitary police unit Guardia Civil.
David Pla and Iratxe Sorzabal were captured in the south-western French town of Saint-Jean-de-Pied-de-Port near the border with Spain, in a joint operation by French and Spanish police.
