Fighters from Mali’s former rebel alliance, the Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA), took control of the northeastern town of Anefis Friday after loyalist fighters who seized it last month withdrew, officials said.
“CMA rebels have retaken control of the locality of Anefis today,” a security official in MINUSMA, the UN peacekeeping mission the west African country, told AFP. “But without a fight. Several of their vehicles arrived in the city.”

The Israeli Air Force struck three terrorist infrastructure sites, including a Hamas run telecommunications facility in the North of Gaza, early Saturday morning in response to multiple rocket attacks from the coastal enclave the previous day.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Office released a statement saying that the IDF viewed the rocket attacks on Israel with the utmost severity and that it would not tolerate attempts to harm Israeli citizens.

Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson Muhammad Khurasani claimed responsibility for the attack in an e-mail sent to journalists.

Burkina Faso’s interim president, Michel Kafando, has been stripped of his functions and the government dissolved, a military official said on state-run RTB Television on Thursday.
“We have put in place a national democracy council tasked with organising democratic and inclusive elections,” said the unidentified official in military uniform.

Egyptian security forces have killed 55 militants in Sinai on the ninth day of an operation against Islamists in the area.
A statement by the military on Wednesday said that operation “Right of the Martyr’’ had so far resulted in the killing of 415 militants and the arrest of 320 people.
