Burma-Myanmar: Battles continue in Kutkai township, 2 helicopters fire on KIA positions

A battle took place Thursday between KIA’s 9th Battalion troops and Burmese Army troops under 99th Light Infantry Division at Man Bung Pa, located near Hu Hpyet in Kutkai Township, at 7:40 am, said a KIA frontline source.

On the same day, another battle took place between a combined force of KIA’s 29th and 39th Battalion troops and Burmese Army troops under 99th LID at Mang Hang Bum in Kutkai Township at around 8:15 am.

Libya: Clashes between Zawia Martyrs Brigade and Shura Council militants in Benghazi as the Libyan army advances

Violent clashes broke out in the western area of Benghazi, beginning late last night and continuing into the morning. The military’s support units exchanged fire with Shura Council militants who were shelling from the area.

The commander of the Zawia Martyrs Brigade, Colonel Jamal Al-Zahawi, tells Alwasat the military made advances in near the sea and university without giving any further details.

Pakistan: Fresh air strikes kill 21 terrorists in Khyber district

Fighter jets Thursday pounded militant hideouts in Khyber Agency, killing at least 21 terrorists and injuring several others, Samaa reported Thursday.

The strikes were carried out late Thursday in the Rajgal and Tirah areas of the Khyber tribal district.

“Twenty-one terrorists were killed in precise aerial strikes last night in remote areas of Rajgal and Tirah,” the military said in a brief statement.

Nigeria: Self-defence civil fighters and soldiers kill 150 Boko Haram militants

Self-defence fighters said Wednesday they fought alongside Nigerian soldiers to kill 150 Boko Haram militants and rescue 36 child and women captives of the Islamic uprising in the country’s northeast.

Jubilant civilians who participated in Tuesday night’s assault said they went to the Madagali and Gwoza areas acting on intelligence that the extremists were planning a large attack.

Self-defence fighter Bukar Jimeta said they killed at least 150 militants and recovered guns and explosives used in suicide bombings that have killed hundreds in recent months.

Afghanistan: Talibans advance on capital of Helmand province

Taliban fighters have advanced in their fight against government forces on the capital of Afghanistan’s southern province of Helmand, prompting many families to flee.

The battle near Lashkar Gah town came on Tuesday, three weeks after the armed group won its biggest fight since 2001, capturing the northern town of Kunduz and holding the city centre for three days.
