Iraq: Peshmerga forces advancing in Sinjar
Peshmerga forces have retaken a large area of Sinjar in northern Iraq from Islamic State (IS), according to a Peshmerga commander in the area.
The unnamed Peshmerga official revealed that they made significant advances against IS insurgents in the Yazidi town on November 1st.
International coalition warplanes backed the Kurdish forces and bombed IS positions in advance.
The Peshmerga are now in control of some districts of the town.
