Iraqi forces have cut Daesh’s last supply line into the western city of Ramadi by seizing a key bridge, Iraqi officials and a military officer said on Thursday.
The capture of Palestine Bridge, straddling the Euphrates river in northwestern Ramadi, means Iraqi forces have the city surrounded. They will now move to clear the city of the militants one neighbourhood at a time.

Philippine marines killed eight suspected sympathisers of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in a gun battle in the southern Philippines.
The men were killed in a brief firefight at dawn on Thursday near Palimbang town in Sultan Kudarat province, Brigadier General Emmanuel Salamat said. They were mostly Filipinos but one was possibly Indonesian.

Some 1,800 Latin American former soldiers are being trained somewhere in the desert of United Arab Emirates as part of an operation set up by Blackwater Worldwide.
The United Arab Emirates has deployed about 450 Colombian mercenaries to Yemen to fight with the Saudi-led coalition that is attempting to put under control the Houthis, according to a four-page New York Times report published late Wednesday.

The body of a suspected suicide bomber was found at the scene of an attack on Tunisia’s presidential guard, and the Islamic State group claimed responsibility Wednesday for the attack that left 13 people dead.
Tuesday’s attack on a bus carrying Tunisia’s presidential guards involved about 10 kilograms (22 pounds) of military explosives, the Interior Ministry said.

A new South Sudanese rebel faction in Western Equatoria state has unveiled its strategic objectives and for forming an alliance with other rebel groups operating in the area and in the country to remove from power the government of president Salva Kiir.
The group calling itself South Sudan People’s Patriotic Front (SSPPF) issued a statement on Monday declaring its formation and selection of political and military leadership.
