An armed group in Western Equatoria state said yesterday they have entered negotiations with national authorities to bring peace to the region.
Victor Wanga, the commander of the South Sudan National Liberation Movement (SSNLM) with headquarters in Yambio county, said they signed a preliminary agreement Monday aimed at ending hostilities with the government.
He said the SSNLM took up arms to force the government to listen to their grievances because their views were ignored when aired peacefully.

Locals said the two Israeli airstrikes hit a military facility operated by Hamas and caused damage to nearby homes.
The Israeli military carried out two airstrikes in the Palestinian Gaza strip Wednesday as a response to a rocket fired from the strip toward Israel. The Israeli attacks targeted two military facilities operated by the Hamas movement, which runs government affairs in the strip.

At least 32 people are dead and about 80 people are hurt after an explosion in the Nigerian city of Yola, according to various reports.

One Burmese Army’s fighter jet and two helicopters on Monday bombed KIA’s 8th Brigade headquarters in southwestern Kachin State at around 12 pm. The fighter jet and two helicopters fired five rounds on KIA’s positions and nearby area.
Local sources say the two helicopters were seen circling above to help find targets for the fighter jet. “The bombs they dropped from the fighter jet seem like cluster bombs. They exploded on ground impact. Small explosions like firecrackers used in Chinese New Year,” said a frontline source.
