Fifteen people died in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo overnight when Hutu rebels from Rwanda attacked civilians in the latest ethnic killings in the region, authorities and the military said Thursday.
The assault took place in Miriki, 110 kilometres (65 miles) north of Goma, capital of conflict-torn North Kivu province.

A truck rigged with explosives has crashed into a police training camp in Zliten, Libya, killing at least 65 people in the ensuing blast and injuring up to 100, according to hospital sources.
The explosion at the Libyan Interior Ministry training camp occurred at 8:00am local time. A truck drove through the gates of the facility as hundreds of cadets were gathering for a graduation ceremony.

Yemeni security officials say the Saudi-led coalition has intensified airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, targeting Shiite rebels known as Houthis.
The officials said Wednesday the airstrikes targeted rebel positions in Sanaa, including those at the presidential palace and the airport. They say at least 20 Houthis have been killed in the strikes since Tuesday. The officials, who are independent in the conflict that has torn Yemen apart, spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

North Korea has detonated what it claims to be a hydrogen bomb. Following the fourth nuclear test on Wednesday at its nuclear site, the North said in a statement that its nuclear program is only a defensive strategy against the United States. Citing a smaller-than-expected explosive yield, Seoul is suspicious of Pyongyang’s H-bomb claim.

Congolese police on Thursday said they have arrested 32 people on charges of attacking the international airport in Goma, capital of north-eastern North Kivu province.
Fighters belonging to a new rebel group headed by a former regional politician, Celestin Malonga, were pushed back on Monday by the army and members of the presidential guard who were based at the airport.
