Afghanistan: 23 militants killed and 14 wounded by Afghan armed forces in past 24 hours

At least 23 anti-government armed militants were killed during clearing operations by the Afghan armed forces during the past 24 hours.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the operations were jointly conducted by the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces in conjunction with the security personnel belonging to the other security institutions.

Turkey: Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants bomb attack kills 3 policemen in southeast

Militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) detonated a roadside bomb in the southeastern province of Şırnak overnight, killing three police officers and wounding four others in an armored vehicle, security sources said Jan. 18.

Reports indicate the blast occurred at around 11:30 p.m. in Şırnak’s İdil district when PKK militants detonated a roadside bomb during the passage of an armored police car.

Dozens of Saudi-led forces have been killed in a new ballistic missile attack on Yemen’s central province of Marib.

Local sources in Yemen reported that the army and the Popular Committees fired a Tochka missile on al-Bairaq military base.

Clashes between Mozambique Government forces and the opposition Mozambican National Resistance, or RENAMO, have forced an increasing number of people to flee Mozambique and seek asylum in Malawi over the last few weeks, the United Nations refugee agency cautioned today.

Syria: ISIL terrorists abduct 400 civilians and slaughter 300 people during assault on Deir Ezzor town

ISIL has kidnapped at least 400 civilians including women and children, and slaughtered 300 people in attacks on Syria’s eastern city of Deir Ezzor, a monitor and the government said on Sunday.

The extremists made significant advances in the contested region when they committed the “appalling massacre”, the government said.
