Turkey killed 200 militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in cross-border operations after an ISIL suicide bomber slaughtered 10 German tourists in Istanbul’s historic Sultanahmet Square on Jan. 12, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has said.
Turkey fired 500 cannon shots at ISIL targets in Iraq and Syria, killing 200 militants over the past 48 hours, Davutoğlu announced in an address to Turkish ambassadors gathered for an annual conference in Ankara.
“Every attack against Turkey’s guests will be punished,” Davutoğlu added.

Militants launched a gun and bomb assault in the center of the Indonesian capital on Thursday, killing at least six people, in an attack that followed a threat by Islamic State fighters to put the country in their “spotlight,” police said.
Media said six bombs went off and a Reuters witness saw police exchanging fire with gunmen. Several hours after the attacks began, the witness heard more gunfire and at least one more explosion.

A suicide bomber killed at least 10 people and wounded at least one in an attack on a mosque in northern Cameroon on Wednesday, officials in the Far North region said, in the latest attack linked to an insurgency by militant group Boko Haram.
The extremist group whose origins are in northeastern Nigeria has stepped up attacks in neighboring Cameroon, Chad and Niger since last year. Many of the recent Cameroon attacks have been conducted by women.

One Ukrainian soldier was killed in clashes between pro-Russian rebels and government forces in the war-torn east, Kiev said Monday, a day after four others died in an uptick of violence.
‘Over the last day, as a result of hostilities one Ukrainian soldier was killed and another injured’, military spokesman Andriy Lysenko told journalists.

An explosion believed to be caused by a suicide bombing rocked İstanbul’s central Sultanahmet Square, a major tourist attraction, on Tuesday, leaving 10 people dead and 15 wounded. Officials said most of those killed were German nationals.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the attack appears to have been carried out by a “Syrian-origin” suicide bomber.
