At least nine civilians and 16 rebel fighters have been killed as security forces battle militants of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Turkey’s mainly Kurdish southeast, the army and the region’s main political party said on Monday.
Violence has raged in the region since the collapse of peace talks last July aimed at ending a three-decade PKK insurgency.

Twenty-nine people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have died in clashes between rebels from the Democratic Liberation Forces of Rwanda (FDLR) and the Mai Mai (a local armed group).
The violence in the eastern DRC was revealed to Anadolu Agency by a spokesman for a local civil society group late on Sunday.

Neighborhood 400 fight axis, in east coast, Derna city, was a battlefield for fresh heavy clashes that erupted this Saturday between Derna Shura Council revolutionaries and IS/Daesh militants.
The surveillance battalion of the Derna Shura Council, along with the backup units from the city’s young men, has managed to observe the movement of IS/Daesh militants in the mountainous area overlooking the east coast (also known as Al-Hajjaj), and then showered it with heavy artillery fire.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said on Sunday it was ready to send ground troops to Syria as part of an international coalition to fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militant group.
Asked if the UAE was ready to send troops if need be, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said at a media briefing in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi: “This has been our position throughout.”

The Sudan Liberation Movement led by Minni Minnawi (SLM-MM) denied taking part in the recent clashes in the Libyan region of Kufra near the southern border with the Sudan.
The Sudanese army and Libyan officials said over 30 Sudanese SLM fighters were killed during clashes on Thursday and Saturday in Kufra and accused the Darfurian rebel group of robberies and attacks on civilians in the region.
