Iraq: Security forces expel ISIS militants from key district of Hit in Anbar province
Iraqi army forces announced Thursday the liberation of the key district of Hit in Iraq’s northern province of Anbar from the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) after several months of fighting.
Local media sources confirmed that the Iraqi army forces have caused the ISIS group heavy losses in manpower and equipment during the las few days.
On the other hand, the Iraqi security forces were able to capture a number of jihadis during confrontations with the militant group, while a number of civilians were killed and injured in the mutual bombings between ISIS and the Iraqi forces, according to local activists.
Speaking to ARA News in Anbar, media activist Hamid Omari said that the anti-terrorism security forces, backed by Iraqi tribal groups, finalized Thursday the liberation of the Hit district from ISIS militants.
