Intense fighting has been reported in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh inside Azerbaijan, with heavy casualties reported on both sides and the OSCE expressing its “grave concern” at developments.

New clashes flared between government troops and an armed ethnic group in northern Myanmar’s Shan state on Wednesday, the same day as a new civilian president was sworn into office, vowing to work towards peace and national reconciliation in the country.
Major Mai Aik Kyaw, spokesman of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), told RFA’s Myanmar Service that his forces engaged in fresh hostilities with government troops in the early morning at Khokat village in Mantong township.

At least six people were killed in a suicide bombing in Somalia’s northeastern Puntland state on Thursday.
A bomber blew himself up in a hotel in the town of Galkayo, some 650 kilometers (404 miles) northeast of the capital Mogadishu, Mahmud Ahmed, an eyewitness, told Anadolu Agency.

The New IRA terror group has warned of more attacks on prison officers and members of the security forces in Northern Ireland.
In a statement to mark the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising against British rule in Ireland, the paramilitary organisation claimed that “a century on and the IRA armed actions against Britain and her agents are [as] legitimate as they were in 1916”.
