Islamic State militants attacked Kurdish peshmerga forces on multiple fronts in northern Iraq on Tuesday, breaching their defenses and briefly taking over a town, military sources said.
The attacks around the northern city of Mosul are the largest against Kurdish forces in recent months by the insurgents, who have been losing ground to an array of forces in the north and west of the country.

Rebel fire on a hospital in a government-controlled neighbourhood of Syria’s battered second city Aleppo left dozens dead or wounded on Tuesday (May 3), state television reported.
The rockets hit Al-Dabbeet hospital in the Muhafaza district, the television said.

A radical Kurdish militant group on Sunday claimed a suicide bombing in Turkey’s former Ottoman capital of Bursa last week, saying the female assailant had failed to reach her intended target.
The attack on Wednesday evening near Bursa’s famed 14th century Grand Mosque wounded 13 people but caused no fatalities other than the female suicide bomber herself.

Turkish forces and coalition aircraft have killed at least 63 Daesh terrorists in northern Syria, a security source said Monday.
The strikes by artillery and armed aerial drones followed rocket attacks on Turkey’s southern Kilis province from Syria on Sunday. Eight people were wounded in two attacks launched from Daesh-controlled territory.

Ukraine’s central government and separatists say three people have been killed in clashes in eastern Ukraine despite a previously agreed armistice for Orthodox Easter.
The reports of gunfire came while Orthodox Christians had just begun observing Easter Sunday.
