At least 37 people have been killed following a suicide bombing in the port city of Mukalla in Yemen, according to AFP. Terrorist group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted police recruits at a security compound.
Local hospitals were also treating another 25 people injured in the attack, according to the agency.

The Islamic State group launched an offensive against government forces in eastern Syria on Saturday and captured several buildings, including a hospital, in clashes that left more than two dozen people dead on both sides.
Deir el-Zour, near the border with Iraq, is split between government forces and IS fighters. Government-held areas have been under a months-long siege by the extremists, and the U.N. has been airdropping aid to residents amid food and medicine shortages.

Six Turkish soldiers were killed on Friday in a clash with Kurdish militants in Turkish Kurdistan, the southeast of the country, while two more lost their lives when a military helicopter sent to the scene crashed, the army said.
The six troops were killed and eight others wounded in fighting with members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) near a military base in the Cukurca district of Hakkari province.

At least 16 senior members of the al-Nusra Front armed group have been killed in an air strike in Syria, according to an organisation that monitors the war there.
The strike hit a meeting the group was holding at the Abu al-Duhur airbase in the northwest of the country on Thursday, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
