India: Revolutionary Communist Centre (RCC) maoists attack road construction camp office

Maoists owing allegiance to Revolutionary Communist Centre ( RCC ), splinter group of CPI (Maoist), raided the camp office of a private road construction company located in Belaganj police station area of the district shortly before midnight on Tuesday. The heavily armed Maoists numbering more than a dozen made the company staff captive at gun-point.

Libya: Libya prepares military operation on ISIS stronghold of Sirte

Forces in western Libya are preparing to advance on the city of Sirte, seized by DAESH last year, their spokesman said, pushing ahead with plans for a counter-attack after the group made territorial gains in the last week.

The fighters based in the city of Misrata would like international logistical support to help retake what has become DAESH’s most important base outside Syria and Iraq, but will not wait for it before launching the operation, they said.

Ukraine: 1 soldier killed and 3 critically wounded in eastern Ukraine

The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 11 times in the past day.

One soldier is dead, three others are in critical condition after stepping on a landmine. Ukraine’s military spokesperson also says there were about a dozen shellings overnight.

South Sudan: New rebel group formed in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state

Officers from the armed opposition faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in Opposition in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state have defected and formed their own faction.

The officers previously under the overall leadership of the First Vice-President, Riek Machar, have asserted that the 2015 peace agreement signed with president Salva Kiir, has not addressed the cause of the war.

Iraq: ISIS claims responsibility for bombing that killed dozens of people at a Baghdad market

At least 64 people were killed when a bomb went off at a market in Baghdad, according to Iraqi police.

An additional 87 people were injured in the attack in the largely Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City.
