A car bomb on Tuesday struck a police vehicle that was carrying officers escorting seven recently detained Kurdish militants in the mainly-Kurdish city of Diyarbakir, killing three people and wounding 45 others, officials said.
No group had claimed responsibility for the attack in Diyarbakir’s Baglar neighborhood, but the state-run Anadolu Agency said it was carried out by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, as the bus was passing by.

The Iraqi army recaptured the town of Makhmur from Islamic State militants as part of the military’s overall plan to neutralize the insurgent stronghold of Mosul, officials said Monday.
Coalition forces targeted militants in the town with airstrikes, local media reported Monday.

Scores of people were on Saturday killed and several others injured in Mongalla, a Central Equatoria state town located along the Juba-Bor road.
Multiple sources told Sudan Tribune at least three people were feared dead and more than 20 others were injured.
“We lost three soldiers and counted eight attackers. They [attackers] are identified as member of Mundari tribe,” a military officer in Mongalla told Sudan Tribune by phone.

Al-Shabaab has claimed full responsibility for a deadly suicide car bomb attack on the headquarters of Somalia’s traffic police in the capital, Mogadishu on Monday morning.
A bomber drove his car packed with explosives at the gates of the police compound in Shangani district, and then followed a heavy exchange of gunfire between attackers and the security guards.
