Syria: People’s Protection Units (YPG) Kurdish forces ambush kills 35 Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists near Kobane
Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) repelled a renewed offensive by militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) near Kobane in Syria’s northern Aleppo province, and killed dozens of militant fighters, military sources reported on Wednesday.
The YPG forces ambushed a group of ISIS militants near the town of Ain Issa in Kobane countryside, killing at least 35 ISIS jihadis.
“The terror group was trying to infiltrate into Ain Issa. Our [YPG] forces have purposively removed security checkpoints at the town’s entrance to allow the militants enter our security zone, then we opened fire on the group killing more than 35 terrorists and injuring many others,” YPG officer Habun Osman told ARA News.
The Kurdish official added that at least a dozen of ISIS fighters who were injured in the operation were taken as hostages by the YPG.
