Somaliland: Tension rises between Somaliland and Puntland armies in Sanaag

Tense of fight between Somaliland and Puntland forces is reportedly mounting in several parts of disputed Sanaag region, located in northern Somalia on Thursday, reports said.

Residents said Somaliland and Puntland are amassing troops at Labho area which lies in the outskirts of Dahar town, with reports that war could break in anytime due to the tension.

Nigeria: Army kills 12 Boko Haram militants and rescues 22 hostages

The Nigerian Army said its troops on Monday, July 18 killed 12 Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 22 hostages including women and children. It said however, four of its soldiers sustained injuries, while many of the terrorists escaped with gunshot injuries in several clearance operations in Borno State, Vanguard reported Wednesday.

Syria: People’s Protection Units (YPG) Kurdish forces ambush kills 35 Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists near Kobane

Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) repelled a renewed offensive by militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) near Kobane in Syria’s northern Aleppo province, and killed dozens of militant fighters, military sources reported on Wednesday.

The YPG forces ambushed a group of ISIS militants near the town of Ain Issa in Kobane countryside, killing at least 35 ISIS jihadis.

Ukraine: 7 Ukrainian troops died in heavy clashes with Donbass rebels

Ukraine said on Tuesday seven of its soldiers had been killed and 14 wounded in “very heated” fighting that marked the bloodiest clashes with pro-Russian separatists in two months.

The announcement - the highest daily death toll since Ukraine reported seven of its soldiers dying on May 24 - follows a flurry of talks between world leaders and Moscow on halting the 26-month war.

India: At least 10 Indian paramilitary soldiers killed in maoist rebels ambush

At least 10 Indian paramilitary soldiers were killed in an attack by Maoist rebels in a forest area in eastern India, police said on Tuesday.

PK Thakur, the director-general of state police, said three insurgents were also killed in an exchange of gunfire on Monday in the Dumrinala area, about 170 kilometres south of Patna, the capital of Bihar state.

The rebels used improvised explosive devices and fired at paramilitary soldiers in the area that is known to be a rebel stronghold, PK Sahu, another police officer, said.
