Nigeria: Nigerian army says Boko Haram leader fatally wounded in air strike
Abubakar Shekau and other senior officials were hit by Nigerian ‘air force raid’.
The Nigerian army says that it “fatally wounded” the leader of Boko Haram during an air strike targeting a meeting of the Islamist group’s commanders, local media reported.
The attack reportedly took place on Friday when Abubakar Shekau and other senior officials gathered for prayers when they were hit by what the Nigerian army called an “air force raid”.
Sani Kukasheka Usman, a colonel and acting director of army public relations, described the strikes as “the most unprecedented and spectacular air raid”.
