Somalia: 9 killed in Mogadishu beach restaurant attack claimed by al-Shabaab
Nine people including two Shabaab jihadists have been killed in an attack on a beach front restaurant in the Somali capital of Mogadishu.
Al-Qaeda linked Shabaab jihadists attacked the Banadir Beach Restaurant, setting off a car bomb before exchanging fire with security forces. The assailants also threw grenades at security services who had cordoned off the area.
One man who suffered a head wound was detained by the authorities and was accused of being an attacker. The restaurant is known to be a popular place for both young people and government officials.
