Heavy fighting erupted in Mudug region between Puntland Security forces (PSF) and al-Shabaab militants group on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.
The clashes sparked when PSF soldiers-U.S. Pentagon backed counter terrorism taskforce- attacked al-Shabaab fighters in Buraad area located 15 km east of Galkayo city, according to military sources.

“Fortunately, after two years of negotiations between Afghanistan’s High Peace Council and the Hezb-e Islami, the peace negotiations have been successfully completed, and an agreement between both sides has been finalized”, the Afghan High Peace Council, the presidentially appointed body tasked with pursuing a peace settlement with militant groups, said in a statement.
The deal signed on Thursday with warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar is the country’s first peace agreement since the Taliban launched their insurgency in 2001, after being driven from power in the wake of the 9/11 attacks on the United States.

Government soldiers made advances in the center of the besieged city of Aleppo on Tuesday, as heavy aerial bombardments by Syria and its ally Russia extended into a fifth day, state-run media organizations said.
Syrian state television reported that troops loyal to the government of President Bashar al-Assad had captured the rebel-held neighborhood of Farafra, near the city’s medieval citadel.

South Sudan’s oil-rich Unity state saw heaving fighting this weekend when clashes between government troops (SPLA) and the armed opposition (SPLA-IO) broke out in Rubkotna county.
The Sudan Tribune confirmed the heavy gunshots and bombardments with a group of civilians who fled the area to the United Nations camp in Bentiu.
