Burma-Myanmar: Thousands flee Methawaw as clashes intensify between Myanmar Border Guard Forces (BGF) and Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) rebels
Fighting between the Myanmar Border Guard Forces (BGF), along with the Tatmadaw, and the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) in Methawaw, Kayin State, has intensified, according to local sources.
The two sides have begun shelling each other with heavy artillery in recent days, said an unnamed commander from the BGF.
“The fighting continues. Last night, there was a battle near a DKBA base. Soldiers were wounded,” said the commander.
According to the BGF, three DKBA members have been killed, and one has been wounded.
