An official on Friday said troops of Niger and Chad military have killed 38 Boko Haram fighters during military search operations in the Diffa region of southeast Niger this week.

A suicide bomber attacked a Sunni mosque in northwest Pakistan on Friday, killing at least 24 worshippers and wounding 28 others, officials said. Several children were also among those killed or wounded in the deadly attack.
A breakaway Taliban group later claimed responsibility for the bombing.
The attacker shouted “God is Great” as he entered the mosque in the village of Ambar in Pakistan’s Mohmand tribal region, government administrator Naveed Akbar told The Associated Press. He said rescuers had transported the dead and wounded to nearby hospitals, where some of the wounded were listed in critical condition.

Forty people were killed in fighting between Shiite Houthi rebels and pro-government forces around southwest Yemen’s main city of Taez, military sources said on Thursday.
Colonel Sadeq al-Hassani, spokesman for the loyalist forces, told AFP that 27 Houthis and 13 pro-government fighters were killed, as a rebel offensive aimed at reimposing a siege of the city was repelled on Wednesday.

Clashes broke out between Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Islamic State (ISIS) militants in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah Governorate, military sources reported on Thursday.
At least 38 ISIS militants and nine YPG fighters were killed in the skirmish. Five ISIS radicals were subsequently arrested near the Shaddadi City, in Hasakah’s southern countryside.

The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) claimed responsibility for this week’s attack in the Turkish city of Van, saying it had killed 18 police and security forces and wounded 30 workers of the Turkish ruling party.
In a statement posted on the website of its armed wing, HPG, the PKK said that Monday’s attack was in response to “the killing of youths in Van” and the appointment of new trustees in place of ousted elected mayors “against the will of the people.”
