Somalia: Puntland and Galmudug leaders reach peace deal in Galkayo
The leaders of the semi-autonomous states of Puntland and Galmudug have held direct peace talks in Galkayo airport on Saturday afternoon.
Somali prime minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarake, UN envoy, along with EU and AU representatives were in presence in the closed door meeting in Galkayo to mediate the talks.
Galmudug and Puntland leaders signed a three-point peace agreement, aimed at ending to the lingering deadly clashes in Galkayo city, which left scores dead.
Somali caretaker prime minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke said the two leaders agreed to swiftly cease the fire independent committee responsible to oversee the ceasefire deal.
