Eleven Burkina Faso soldiers were killed on Friday in what local authorities said was the biggest ever jihadist attack on the army, at a base near the restive border with Mali.
“We lost 11 of our men in the attack this morning in Nassoumbou … the biggest jihadist attack ever perpetrated” against the army, the high commissioner of Soum province, Mohamed Dah, told AFP by phone.

Heavy clashes erupted between regime and rebel forces in Syria’s divided city of Aleppo after a unilateral ceasefire announced by Russia expired, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
The first Syrian or Russian air strikes on Aleppo, Syria’s most populous city before the civil war, since Russia began the pause in hostilities on Thursday hit a key frontline in the city’s southwest.

Militants launched 15 attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in ATO area in Donbas over the past day.
This is reported by the ATO press center.
As noted, in Mariupol direction, the enemy used grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms to fire at Marinka (35 km south-west of Donetsk). Ukrainian positions in Shyrokyne (20km east of Mariupol) came under 122mm artillery fire.

The Arakan Army (AA) has ramped up its clashes against government forces in western Burma and the Bangladesh border region since the start of November, killing 10 Burma Army soldiers and wounding dozens more, the AA claimed in a statement on Monday night.
Throughout November and December, the AA had only one of its own soldiers killed and one injured, the AA statement read. However, despite the rising number of clashes between the Burma Army and AA, neither side issued any prior statements on the military skirmishes over the past two months.

A recently emerged Egyptian militant group claimed responsibility for a bomb attack in Cairo on Friday that killed six policemen and wounded three others.
The Hasm Movement, which has claimed several attacks in Egypt in recent months, said it set off the bomb which security sources said also injured four civilians.
