Yemen: Government claims to have seized Red Sea port of Mokha from Houthi rebels

Yemeni government forces captured on Monday the port of Mokha as they pushed to oust Houthi rebels from the Red Sea coastline, an AFP journalist said.

An official statement said government forces recaptured the whole city, but a military commander in the field told AFP that loyalists were still fighting the rebels on the southern outskirts of Mokha.

India: 2 soldiers of Assam Rifles killed in ambush by maoist militants near Jairampur

Two soldiers of the Assam Rifles were killed and two others injured on Sunday when militants ambushed a convoy near Jairampur on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, police said.

The security forces, however, launched a counter-insurgency operation immediately in the area and killed two of the militants involved in the ambush.

Egypt: 8 civilians killed in Sinai in clashes between army and ISIS terrorists

Sudan: Sudanese government and Darfur rebel group Sudan Liberation Movement (Second Revolution) (SLM-SR) to sign peace deal next week

The Sudanese government and Darfur rebel Sudan Liberation Movement (Second Revolution) SLM-SR chaired by Abul Gasim Imam will sign a peace agreement in the Qatari capital, Doha next week, said peace office official.

Qatar brokered the Darfur peace negotiations which resulted in the signing of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) by the Sudanese government and the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) in July 2011. However, the major rebel groups didn’t join the deal.

Afghanistan: 16 policemen killed as taliban rebels attacked police checkpoints in Kandahar province

At least 16 policemen were killed as militants stormed police checkpoints in Kandahar province of Afghanistan on Friday, an official said.

“A group of Taliban rebels attacked some security checkpoints in Miwand district, triggering a gun battle,” the official told Xinhua news agency.
