Sixteen Yemeni pro-government fighters were killed on Tuesday in separate clashes with Huthi rebels and Al-Qaeda fighters in the south of the war-torn country, military sources and officials said.
Forces supporting Yemen’s President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, are fighting both the Houthi rebels who control parts of the country including the capital Sanaa and jihadists in the south.

The death toll in Monday’s bombing attack near an AMISOM base in Mogadishu has risen to at least 15 people, according to Radio Shabelle in Somalia.
Dozens of people also were wounded in two midday car bomb explosions that occurred at the base near the Mogadishu International Airport (Aden Adde), sending clouds of smoke that were visible for miles into the air. The Al Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the terror attack which killed 39 people and injured 69 in a prominent Istanbul nightclub on New Year’s eve.
“In continuation of the blessed operations that Islamic State is conducting against the protector of the cross, Turkey, a heroic soldier of the caliphate struck one of the most famous nightclubs where the Christians celebrate their apostate holiday,” said ISIS in a statement on Monday.

The Taliban militants suffered heavy casualties in the ground and airstrikes conducted by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in southern Uruzgan province.
According to the local security officials, the militants suffered the casualties in the past 24 hours in the vicinity of the strategic Tarinkot city, the provincial capital of Uruzgan.

Iraqi forces approached Mosul from the northern front on Saturday (December 31) after retaking several villages in the area.
The army troops were on Saturday moving on to the village of Argoob, where there was fighting ongoing, Lieutenant Colonel Abbas al-Azawi told Reuters, by phone.
