The Shan State Army-South (SSA-S), the armed wing of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), a signatory group of the nationwide ceasefire agreement (NCA), clashed with the Burma Army on Wednesday afternoon in Panglong in southern Shan State.
The clash broke out between SSA-S troops and the Burma Army’s Light Infantry Battalion No. 246 at 12 p.m. near Nam Hsai village, around 10 miles north of Panglong, and lasted for half an hour, Lt-Col Sai Ngai, a RCAA/SSA spokesperson told The Irrawaddy.

President Trump ordered a cruise missile strike against Syria Thursday, saying “no child of God should ever suffer” the horror of the chemical weapons attack Syria launched on its own people.
Trump ordered the strike against Syria early Friday local time in retaliation for the chemical weapons attack that killed 86 people on Tuesday, he said.

Basque separatist group ETA has said it will fully disarm on 8 April, the BBC has reported, citing a letter from the organisation.
The moves comes after the Basque parliament asked ETA to disarm as soon as possible.

Colombia’s government and National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrillas on Thursday announced they have agreed to deescalate fighting.
To “protect non-combatants and the civilian population from the effects of the armed conflict,” both sides agreed to “decrease the intensity of the fighting,” according to a joint statement.

A Taliban suicide bomber struck a vehicle carrying census workers in eastern Pakistan on Wednesday, killing two data collectors and four soldiers who were escorting them, officials said.
The attack took place on the outskirts of Lahore, said Malik Ahmad Khan, the provincial government spokesman. A local police official, Mohammad Afzal, said that 15 other people were wounded in the blast, which damaged nearby shops.
