South Sudanese rebels say they have withdrawn from the country’s town of Yei, amid fear of civilians’ safety after clashes with South Sudan army (SPLA) early this week.
“Our gallant forces tactically withdrew from Yei last night to Korgulu to avoid civilians’ casualties. We are still requesting civilians to vacate Yei as soon as they can,” said Colonel Paul Lam, the rebel’s deputy spokesperson.

South Korean President Moon Jae-In warned Wednesday there was a “high possibility” of military clashes along the border with North Korea as tensions mount over Pyongyang’s weapons ambitions.
Moon, who was sworn in last week, warned that the North’s nuclear and rocket programmes were “advancing rapidly”, days after Pyongyang launched what appeared to be its longest-range missile yet.

Up to 32 armed insurgents were killed as government forces launched a counter offensive to foil Taliban attacks in northern Afghanistan, provincial police chief Ekramudin Sarih said on Tuesday.
The counter offensive was launched in Burka district of northern Afghanistan’s Baghlan province.

The Ukrainian armed forces have violated the ceasefire in the Donbass region 50 times over the past 24 hours, the defense ministries of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR, LPR) reported on Monday.
“The Ukrainian armed forces have violated the ceasefire 48 times over the past 24 hours,” the Donetsk News Agency quotes a source in the DPR command as saying.

Bombardment by the Turkish warplanes on Sunday claimed the lives of 10 members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in bordering areas of the Kurdistan Region.
Citing a statement by Turkish army, Anadolu news agency reported the bombs hit Sinaht and Haftanin areas, close to the town of Zakho.
