Israel: Israeli jets hit several targets in Syria in return to rocket attacks

Israeli jets on Saturday hit several targets in Syria allegedly in response to rocket attacks from the war-torn country, the military said in a written statement.

It said that “more than 10” rockets had been fired from Syria earlier.

The Israeli army said the so-called retaliatory strikes targeted Syrian positions north of Golan Heights where rockets were allegedly fired from on Israeli territories.

Pakistan: Multiple terror attacks across Pakistan leave 62 dead and 100 injured, claimed by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JUA)

In multiple attacks in Pakistan’s three major cities on Friday — the last of the Holy month of Ramzan — at least 62 people were killed and 100 others injured, reported news agency PTI. In the first attack, a suicide bomber blew up his explosives-laden car in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, killing 13, including seven policemen, and injuring 21 others. The blast were claimed by both the local affiliate of the Islamic State terror group and a splinter group of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA).

Cameroon: Double Boko Haram suicide attack kills 6 civilians in Kolofata

A source close to Cameroon’s security forces on Wednesday said a double suicide attack launched by Boko Haram insurgents, killed six civilians in the country’s restive Far North region.

Two of the attackers died.

The blasts happened in Kolofata, where nine people died in a double suicide bombing in early June.

Central African Republic: 100 people killed in clashes between Anti-Balaka Christian militia and FPRC Muslim rebels

The mayor of a Central African Republic (CAR) town says at least 100 people are dead after heavy fighting broke out in the wake of a peace agreement signed this week in Rome.

Bria Mayor Maurice Balekouzou also said Wednesday that several dozen wounded have been brought to the hospital run by aid group Doctors Without Borders.

Somalia: At least 10 people killed by car bomb in Mogadishu claimed by al-Shabaab

At least 10 people were killed on Tuesday in a car bomb attack on a government building in the Somali capital of Mogadishu that was claimed by Islamist insurgents, a government official said.

Al-Shabaab frequently launches attacks in Mogadishu and other areas controlled by Somalia’s federal government. It wants to force out African Union peacekeepers, topple the Western-backed government and impose its strict version of Islam.
