The UN says more than 250 people, including 62 children, have been killed in attacks in the Democratic Republic of Congo that are “taking on an increasing and disturbing ethnic dimension”.
In a report based on interviews with almost 100 victims, the UN’s Human Rights Office said it believed the DRC government to be complicit in the massacres in the south-western Kasai province.

A group of Boko Haram gunmen killed six people in northeast Nigeria on Wednesday, a government spokesperson said, as the country works to ramp up its fight against the jihadists.
The militants stormed Mildu village near the town of Madagali in the far north of Adamawa state, which has been repeatedly targeted by the Islamists.

Libyan commander General Khalifa Haftar, head of the Libyan National Army, has ordered the bombing of any Italian warships requested by the prime minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya Fayez al-Sarraj, excluding merchant vessels.
This comes after the government of national accord announced the arrival of the Italian navy ship ‘Commandante Prozini’ on Wednesday.

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Tuesday made new gains in the fight against ISIS militants in Raqqa city, advancing in two neighbourhoods.
The SDF leadership said that advances continue in the neighbourhoods of Nazlah Shehada and Hisham Bin Abdul Malek, although both neighbourhoods are not fully liberated yet.

At least 20,000 rebel troops loyal to South Sudan’s Former First Vice-President, Riek Machar have allegedly declared allegiance to the National Salvation Front (NASA), led by ex-South Sudan army’s deputy chief of logistics, Gen. Cirilo Swaka.
In a statement, Lt. Gen. John Kenyi Loburon, the overall commander of the Central Equatoria command of armed opposition movement faction (SPLM-IO) said his group had sealed links with the Machar-led rebel faction.
