Rival Tuareg groups say they have signed a cease-fire agreement in northern Mali, a deal which could bolster a fragile peace accord between the government and other armed groups.
Fahad Ag Al Mahmoud, a leader in a third Tuareg group, said Thursday that the Coordination of the Movements of Azawad and the pro-government Platforme group signed the deal Wednesday.

Turkish army shelled with heavy artillery on Thursday noon the positions of the Syrian regime forces in the area of Burj Al-Zahia and the white hill in Mount Turkman in the countryside of Latakia.
The Turkish bombardment is in response to the bombing of the regime on the sites of the Turkish army near the villages of Besson and Tanzrin on the Syrian-Turkish border west of Idlib.

A Malian soldier was killed and a number of others were injured Wednesday in an ambush in northern Mali, where gunmen also attacked two military camps, including a UN mission, a military source said.
The ambush took place 55 kilometres (34 miles) from Menaka, when one of the unit’s vehicles ran over a landmine, the source said.
Meanwhile, in the northern region of Kidal, gunmen attacked a camp run by the UN mission in the country, known by the acronym of MINUSMA, and another camp due to host so-called mixed patrols, another security source said.

Iraqi forces on Tuesday began an operation to recapture the Islamic State’s (IS) last remaining stronghold in Anbar Province near the border with Syria, a military source said.
According to the source, Iraqi soldiers, Anbar provincial police, and Iranian-backed Shia militia Hashd al-Shaabi began advancing on the town of Anah in the morning.

At least 15 people have been killed in a bombing attack, bearing the hallmark of the Boko Haram Takfiri terrorist group, in the northeastern Nigerian state of Borno.
The Monday attack targeted an aid distribution point in Konduga area, about 40 kilometers from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.
