At least 235 people were killed Friday while worshiping at a mosque in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, according to multiple news reports.
Locals from the town of Bir al-Abd said that militants set off an explosion outside Al Rawda mosque and then began gunning down people as they ran outside.

At least five people, including two soldiers, were killed in a rekindled fighting in Galkayo city, the regional capital of Mudug province on Thursday, Garowe Online reports.
The fighting broke out between local militias belonging to businessmen from Puntland and Galmudug states following a dispute over an area, where a new food store was built in the city’s hectic market.

US airstrikes in Somalia have killed more than 100 al-Shabaab militants, US Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced. It is the biggest in a series of 29 airstrikes acknowledged by the Pentagon so far.
The airstrikes were carried out about 125 miles away from the capital city of Mogadishu at 10:30 am local time, the Pentagon said in a statement. The strike was done in coordination with Somalia’s federal government.

The commander of Lebanon’s armed forces instructed his troops, which are celebrating recent victories against jihadi groups on the country’s restive eastern border with Syria, to be fully ready to deal with a potential attack from Israel.
On the eve of the country’s 74th anniversary of independence from France, the Lebanese military commander, Joseph Aoun, commended soldiers for successfully expelling the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, an Al-Qaeda affiliate formerly known as Nusra Front, from the outskirts of eastern towns such as Arsal, Ras Baalbek and Hermel this summer.
