Iraq: 4 policemen killed and injured in bomb blast, clashes with Islamic State (IS) militants in Kirkuk

Four security men were killed and wounded Wednesday in a bomb blast and clashes with Islamic State in Kirkuk, a military commander told TRT Arabic.

“A roadside bomb planted by Islamic State went off at a village south of Kirkuk, leaving two security men, including an officer, dead,” Commander of Kirkuk Operations Maj. Gen. Ali Fadel Umran said.

Uganda: Army says killed over 100 Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Ugandan military said on Monday that it killed over 100 Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in an operation last Friday against rebel camps in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The airstrike and artillery operation, code-named “Tuugo,” targeted eight ADF camps in Eringeti triangle in the DRC’s North Kivu province, Maj. Ronald Kakurungu, spokesperson of the operation, told Xinhua by phone from the western border district of Bundibugyo.

Ukraine: Ukrainian authorities and separatist rebels agree on major prisoner exchange

Ukrainian authorities and separatist rebels have agreed on a major prisoner exchange.

Separatist leaders and a Ukrainian government representative said in televised comments on Monday that they would exchange prisoners on Wednesday. They spoke after a meeting in Moscow mediated by the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.

South Sudan: SPLM-In Opposition rebel leader Riek Machar declares cessation of hostilities

The leader of the main rebel group in South Sudan (SPLM-In Opposition) has issued an order declaring a cessation of hostilities with the government forces, despite reports of continued fighting in several parts of the country after the signing of the ceasefire in Addis Ababa.

Rebel leader Riek Machar, through the order he issued on Friday 22, 2017, said the declaration was in adherence to the agreement on cessation of hostilities which his group had signed with other groups, including those in the government as part of the regional efforts to end the war.

Philippines: 5 Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) militants killed in north Cotabato clashes

About 200 families have evacuated and found themselves dislocated as firefights between Islamic State-inspired bandits from Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and Philippine Army troops resumed in Carmen, North Cotabato.

Local officials on Friday confirmed that affected residents of Martesan and Misalan in Barangay Tonganon were forced to evacuate for fear of a rampage by the group of BIFF commander Esmael Abdulmalik, alias Abu Toraife.
