The Nigerian Army on Friday said its troops had captured 220 Boko Haram insurgents in various clearance operations in the northeast region.
Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Operation Lafiya Dole, made the disclosure in a statement issued in Maiduguri.

The military operation against the Houthi militia is escalating in the Shabwa governorate amid significant progress by the national army and popular resistance, especially in the Asilan and Bihan districts.
The commander of Yemeni forces in Bihan told al-Hadath reporter on Friday that most of Bihan was liberated except for some small villages, as the Yemeni army was keen to preserve the lives of civilians.

At least 14 security personnel were killed in an attack by militants belonging to the Afghanistan’s insurgent group, Taliban in Helmand province.
Tolo News quoted Helmand Governor Hayatullah Hayat as saying that the security force members were on an operation in a remote area of the province to arrest drug smugglers when they were attacked by the militant group on Thursday.

An Islamic extremist suicide bomber disguised as a police officer killed at least 17 and injured 20 at a police academy in Somalia’s capital on Thursday, police said.
Col. Mohamud Aden said that 20 other officers were wounded by the blast, some of them seriously.

At least 35 people were killed and 20 others were missing following Saudi-led coalition airstrikes on a military police facility in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa on Wednesday, a senior Houthi defense ministry official has told CNN.
The facility held hundreds of prisoners, according to officials at the rebel-held office of national security. They said they expected the death toll to rise, and added that they believed many of the dead remained under the rubble.
