Syria: People’s Protection Units (YPG) claims capturing 16 Turkish soldiers
The Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) have claimed that 16 Turkish troops have been captured since the beginning of fierce military clashes between the sides last Saturday.
A YPG spokesperson cited by Sputnik, also said “the militiamen lost four people”.
Turkish army, contrary to the reports, claimed it has killed over 250 Kurdish fighters and Islamic State (IS) members, a claim which was soon refuted by the YPG.
The Syrian Kurds said no IS jihadists are present in the area, and that Turkey resorts to such a claim to legitimise its military incursion.
