The Israeli army said it bombed a Hamas military compound in the Gaza Strip early Sunday after a number of Palestinians allegedly breached the Gaza border fence and set fire to an army vehicle.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which comes days before mass Palestinian protests are set to take place along the Israel-Gaza border.

Congo’s military said on Saturday it had killed 13 militiamen during clashes with an unidentified group after coming under attack in the country’s volatile northeastern Ituri province.
Ituri is the latest part of the Democratic Republic of Congo to descend into bloodshed since President Joseph Kabila’s refusal to step aside at the end of his mandate in 2016 undermined the legitimacy of the state.

Russian air strikes killed 37 civilians in the Arbin area of the shrinking rebel enclave of Eastern Ghouta near Damascus overnight, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said yesterday.
Eastern Ghouta’s six-year rebel rule was in its dying moments as fighters evacuated one of the Syrian enclave’s three remaining pockets and a deal was reached for another.

At least 6 people have been killed and several others wounded in a massive car bomb attack outside a hotel in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu on Thursday afternoon, Garowe Online reports.
Eyewitnesses said a car laden with explosives went off outside Wehliye hotel along the busy Makka Al Mukarama road in the capital which is lined with government offices, hotels, and restaurants.

Boko Haram Islamic extremists returned 101 of the 110 girls they kidnapped from a boarding school in Dapchi, Nigeria last month in the middle of the night Wednesday, warning their parents to never “put your daughters in school again.”
“We were freed because we are Muslim girls, and they didn’t want us to suffer. That is why they released us,” Khadija Grema, one of the freed girls, told the Associated Press, explaining one of her Christian classmates remained captive.
