Spain: Basque separatist group Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA) will announce final dissolution in May 2018

The Basque militant group ETA will announce its final dissolution early next month, public television station ETB reported, just over a year since it ended its armed separatist campaign by surrendering guns and explosives.

ETA killed more than 850 people during the campaign which lasted almost half a century and was aimed at creating a Basque state in northern Spain and southwest France.

Palestine: Israeli soldiers kill 4 Palestinians and wound 700 at Gaza rally

Israeli forces have shot dead four Palestinians, including a 15-year-old boy, as more than 10,000 gathered in a mass demonstration in the besieged Gaza Strip demanding the right of return for Palestinian refugees.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said on Friday that at least 729 people protesting near the border with Israel were wounded by Israeli gunfire, needed treatment for tear gas inhalation or suffered other injuries.

Colombia: Thousands of Colombians flee their homes amid renewed clashes between National Liberation Army (ELN) and Popular Liberation Army (EPL) rebels

Thousands of Colombians have fled their homes amid fresh clashes among armed rebels and a lockdown on transport and trade in the volatile northeast Catatumbo region, the Organization of American States (OAS) and aid agencies said on Wednesday.

The violence has uprooted at least 1,000 families in Catatumbo seeking to escape the crossfire in disputes over drug trafficking and territorial control along the border with Venezuela.

Somalia: Army kills several al-Shabaab militants in southern Somalia

Officials said on Wednesday that several al-Shabaab militants were killed and others injured after heavy fighting between the Somali National Army (SNA), backed by African Union forces, and the militants in Qoqani location in Lower Juba region southern Somalia.

Hassan Mohamed, an army official in the area told reporters that the militants’ claims to have captured the area and killed soldiers’ are baseless, saying they are in full control of the area at moment.

Yemen: Army captures 3 Houthi positions in south west amid clashes

The Yemeni army backed by a Saudi-led military coalition captured three strategic sites in Yemen’s southwestern Al-Bayda province on Tuesday following clashes with Shia Houthi militiamen, according to military officials.

“After fierce fighting in Al-Bayda’s Mujammim Directorate that continued until noon, army forces managed to capture the Laban, Sheab al-Theeb and Al-Faqarah districts,” Army Colonel Mosaad al-Salahi, who also serves as director-general of the adjacent Nati Directorate, told Anadolu Agency by phone.
