A soldier has been killed and another wounded during an operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkey, a security source said on May 11.
The source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, said the security forces had been running a counter-terror operation in the Bestler-Dereler region in the Şırnak province.
Iranian troops reportedly fired a barrage of 20 missiles at Israel, and Israel responded by bombing Iranian military targets in Syria.
The missiles were launched from Syria early Thursday morning. None of them hit Israel. Israel’s missile defense system intercepted four of them, and the rest landed in Syrian territory, according to Israeli news reports. No Israelis were hurt in the attack.

Clashes broke out between the SSA-N and the TNLA on May 4 near Man Sa Awng village in Namtu and have since then forced more than 500 residents from several nearby villages, said administrator of Mong Yin village U Tun Hline.

President Uhuru Kenyatta mourned the soldiers who were killed Sunday evening in an al-Shabaab attack in Dhobley, Somalia. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had killed and wounded 15 soldiers, according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors extremist groups.
